Το Sports Illustrated έσπασε ένα μεγάλο «ταμπού» με αυτήν την φωτογράφιση

Για όσους δεν το γνωρίζουν, το Sports Illustrated κάθε τόσο εκδίδει και από μια ειδική έκδοση, στην οποία μοντέλα και αθλήτριες εμφανίζονται σε εξωτικές παραλίες φορώντας μόνο τα μαγιό τους.

Ωστόσο, για την ανοιξιάτικη έκδοση του Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, το περιοδικό αποφάσισε να σπάσει ένα ταμπού, καθώς σε αυτό συμπεριλαμβάνεται και μια παραολυμπιονίκης.

Η πρωταθλήτρια του snowboard Brenna Huckaby θα γίνει το πρώτο μοντέλο στο περιοδικό που θα εμφανιστεί με ακρωτηριασμένο το ένα άκρο του, καθώς η νεαρή γυναίκα από τη Γιούτα κάνει snowboard με ένα πόδι και ένα προσθετικό άκρο.

Η 22χρονη δήλωσε πανευτυχής και κατενθουσιασμένη με την προπτική να φωτογραφηθεί για το περιοδικό, τονίζοντας ότι οι αντιδράσεις του κόσμου για την απόφασή της ήταν κάτι παραπάνω από θετικές.

Η Huckaby έχασε το πόδι της το 2010, όταν οι γιατροί υποχρεώθηκαν να το ακρωτηριάσουν, λόγω μιας επιθετικής μορφής καρκίνου των οστών, του οστεοσαρκώματος. Ωστόσο, αυτό δεν την εμπόδισε να γίνει πρωταθλήτρια και να κάνει και μια «δυνατή» φωτογράφηση.

My butt hits the newsstand today(literally😝) Im still smiling and freaking out over this huge milestone in women empowerment. It’s funny to read things that say women shouldn’t need to pose nude or in swimsuits to feel empowered, and I agree. I feel empowered daily. I feel empowered standing on the podium or getting my daughter to eat broccoli. Confidence comes in all forms. It was my choice to put myself out there in a sexy way because yo gurl wants to show people she is sexy (regardless of everything else). If you don’t want your sons to look at my body in that way let’s teach them to respect women no matter what they wear! My achievements are no smaller or greater because I’m in a swimsuit. I will forever remember this day as one of my favorites.
